Bonsai display of Formal Trident Maple

Welcome to our modest home

All change at the top.

At the AGM on Sunday 13th April, a new committe was elected. Steve Tolley has assumed the mantle of Chairman, to inject his particular brand of energy and enthusiasm into ABBA, and Delyse Upton has rejoined the committee to bring back her inimitable degree of order to keep us all in check and running efficiently. Sean Hayes will remain Treasurer for one more year.

Upcoming attractions

Following our very enjoyable and informative workshop with Natsuo Kobayashi on Saturday 2 February 2008, and an excellent talk from Peter Adams at the AGM on Bonsai Art in Britain with an emphasis on Scots Pine. The next event for your diary will be The ABBA Summer School with Sandro Segneri and Peter Warren this is a new venture for ABBA and promises to be an intense but enjoyable master class in all things bonsai. Sandro will give a detailed masterclass on a small number of ABBA members trees (please contact Simon Temblett if you wish to take up this offer, but be quick as it is for a very modest fee and places are very limited). Peter will be presenting on aspects of display and giving us the benefits of his perspectives from his Japanese training as he critiques members' individual displays.

The event will be held at the Burrs visitor centre over the weekend of the 19th and 20th of July. Members and non- members welcome as spectators (£10 on the door for non-members). There is limited overnight accomodation at the center, again please contact Simon for all details regarding this event.

In the Autumn Natsuo will be returning to lead more workshops concentrating on pruning and refinement techniques.
